Celebrating Waldemar Ager's 150th Birthday

February 11 and 28, 2019
March 22 and 23, 2019
Waldemar Ager: Conversations about Immigrant Identity

Observing its 25th anniversary, the Ager Association remembers 1869, the year of Waldemar Ager’s birth, and is celebrating, in 2019, his 150th birthday. In his newspaper articles and in his novels and stories, Ager wrote about the people he knew and observed in daily life. Our programs introduce his writings, talk about his views of immigration, seek to understand the immigrant experience, and place all of this in its historical and contemporary context.

The programs are free* and open to the general public. Presentations will reveal interesting aspects of Eau Claire history, culture, and literature and will also provide opportunities for discussion with presenters and other members of the audience.

Most programs will be of interest to teens and adults from all walks of life. These programs will carry you back to the early years of the 20th century and ask you to consider that history from our present-day perspectives.

*Payment of $27 (by March 14) for reception and banquet may be made electronically (link below) or by check: Treasurer, Ager Association, PO Box 1742, Eau Claire, WI 54702-1742
